This was a very interesting assignment.
We were the first on the streets of DC during the riots when much of H
Street was burnt. Then we were first on the streets for the second
riots, less burning but still exciting. I got to patrol with the
police. Some woman caught her husband cheating on her and blew him
away with a shotgun, for a moment we thought we were under fire but the
police came and took control.
January 1969 we were assigned security duty for Nixon's inaugration, I froze my
butt off, man it was cold that winter. |
